Sudan here we come.......

Abu Simbel as seen from the ferry to Wady Halfa
With an exciting trip on the ferry, a few days waiting in Wady Halfa, a lot of riding and 5 days without showering, we finally arrived on Saturday in Khartoum. Our first mission was to look for a place to stay with good showers. So we found a hotel with a pool.....yeah!!! The first thing we did was take a dip.......man how great that felt. 5 days without showering, I felt kg s lighter. We also managed to get some washing done, boy was that needed after the desert.

Our trip on the ferry was......well words cannot describe,we have taken a video just to show you how memorable the ferry trip was. (video to follow). Myself , Lindsay and Andre shared a cabin, because Andre's cabin was filled with 6 Sudanese. So he decided to join us, so myself and Lindsay shared a bunk.

We then had to wait in a little town not to far from the port for 3 days for our bikes to arrive on another ferry......boring!!!!!!!!! Boys were getting really edgy and they just wanted to get a move on but I was quite enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. Luckily there was satellite TV and an internet shop around the corner to keep us busy for the few days.

Finally we got our bikes after hours at the port, poor Lindsay and Peter spent the whole morning and afternoon . After loads of haggling and a few pounds under the table we got the bikes and headed towards the desert.

Just before sunset we stopped to camp under the vast amazing Sudanese desert sky, it was a little bit of a mission getting away from the main road but it was all worth it.

For the next couple of days we slept in the desert, and road most of the days, temp reaching up to 45 degrees......mighty HOT. A few desert storms, rain, sand, great food and great friends what more could we ask for.

Luckily Peter always had cold drinks available for everyone, what a blessing it has been travelling with Peter and Aisha, they have been great friends, and supporting us all the way.

Tomorrow morning we head off for Ethiopia but will probably only make it in 2 days as the border crossing will have to happen in the morning
